Dying Light 2: All safe codes and locations

Dying Light 2 is filled with collectibles, including over 100 GRE containers that you can get inhibitors from to upgrade Aiden’s abilities. That’s a lot, and it’s just a drop in the bucket if you want to go for 100% completion. But one type of container is more mysterious than any other: the safe.

There are fewer than ten safes in the entirety of Dying Light 2, making them quite rare, and the fact that you need to enter a combination to get inside makes them so much more tempting than any ordinary collectible item. In this guide we’re breaking down the locations and combinations of all of the safes we’ve found in Dying Light 2.

Make sure to check out our other guides to get you started, including a breakdown of all major story choices, the best parkour and combat skills, and the tips and tricks you need to get started.

The First Biomarker safe - Dying Light 2

This initial safe you’ll come across during The First Biomarker side quest – a very easy quest to miss entirely if you’re not diligent. But the safe in this quest is actually necessary to progress, so you won’t miss that, just follow the waypoints.

  • The First Biomarker safe code: 9-7-3

Nightrunner Hideout safe - Dying Light 2

This safe contains an inhibitor, so it’s worth your time to collect it. The Nightrunner Hideout is located in Houndfield, to the center-right of the map. This hideout is a Safe Zone so will appear on your map once unlocked.

  • Nightrunner Hideout safe code: 1-0-1

Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp safe - Dying Light 2

You will inevitably visit the Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp on your adventure. The safe is located high up in one of the towers here – you’ll have to use some smart parkour moves to find it. This safe contains yet another inhibitor.

  • Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp safe code: 3-1-3

Horseshoe Water Tower safe - Dying Light 2

You might remember in our Dying Light 2 major choices guide that we mentioned you do not have to kill the perpetrators in the Water Tower quest. If you spare them you can encounter them later, and can find a safe after finishing the Moonshine side quest for them after meeting them at the Peacekeeper HQ in the city. The safe itself is in Horseshoe – the waypoint will lead you. The combination is the year America was “discovered.”

  • Moonshine quest safe code: 14-9-2

Garrison Electrical Station safe - Dying Light 2

This safe is located in the Garrison Electrical Station in the South of the Garrison district. You will likely find this safe while undertaking the electrical cable puzzle. There’s a clue nearby: “the approximate number of pi.” You nerds out there will know that is 3.14 when reduced to two decimal places, so the answer is…

  • Garrison Electrical Station safe code: 3-1-4

Wharf Water Tower safe - Dying Light 2

This is a bit of a strange one. At the end of The Deserter quest you will need to choose to “Keep the Map” in order to access this safe during the Treasure Hunt side quest. If you did not keep the map at the end of the quest originally, you can play the quest with a co-op partner and pick a different option. To find the safe you’ll have to dive deep into a flooded silo.

  • Wharf Water Tower safe code: 3-21-67

Bazaar safe - Dying Light 2

Curious types will have already noticed that the church that houses the Bazaar can be climbed. Start on the South side of the building and make your way up with the path of parkour obstacles, making your way inside the steeple. Climb all the way to the top and you’ll find the safe next to a guitar.

  • Bazaar safe code: 5-1-0

Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle safe - Dying Light 2

This location is found on Saint Paul Island. Once again you’ll have to climb up this church to get inside the steeple, where you can find the safe. Another inhibitor to upgrade your character is inside.

  • Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle safe code: 4-4-4

VNC Tower safe - Dying Light 2

When you’re exploring the VNC Tower you’ll find another safe hidden away in one of the rooms. The code for this one is the number of the beast…

  • VNC Tower safe code: 6-6-6

Garrison Bus safe - Dying Light 2

To the East of the Garrison you’ll actually be able to find a safe hidden within an old bus. A weird spot, but this is the kind of safe you’ll only find if you’re looking hard.

  • Garrison Bus safe code: 9-6-6

Houndfield Flats safe - Dying Light 2

Another fairly simple one, this safe is located in the same room where you finish off the Out Of Your League side quest.

  • Houndfield Flats safe: 11-11-19

Newfound Lost Lands Diner safe - Dying Light 2

This safe is, as the title indicates, hidden away in a diner in the Newfound Lost Lands. Once you’ve found this safe, punch in the code below.

  • Newfound Lost Lands Diner safe code: 4-5-9

Book Club X safe - Dying Light 2

One you have the Book Club X quest marker this safe will be very easy to find.

  • Book Club X safe code: 21-12-55

South Quarry End safe - Dying Light 2

Found upstairs in a house in the South Quarry End district.

  • South Quarry End safe code: 22-67-66

Little Boy safe, New Dawn Park - Dying Light 2

Found in a flat in New Dawn Park, this safe comes with a hint. But screw hints, we’re here for solutions.

  • Little Boy safe code solution: 10-28-64

US Declaration of Independence safe, Garrison - Dying Light 2

One for our US patriots, this safe code is the date the Declaration of Independence was signed.

  • US Declaration of Independence safe code solution: 74-17-76

Life, The Universe, And Everything safe, Muddy Grounds - Dying Light 2

This is a Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy reference, if you couldn’t tell. We all know that means the answer should be 42, but in this case we need 42 in binary. A quick Google conversion reveals the answer…

  • Muddy Ground safe code: 10-10-10

End of World War 2 safe, Saint Paul Island - Dying Light 2

Found inside a GRE container, this safe’s code is the date WW2 ended.

  • End of WW2 safe code: 85-19-45

Dark Hollow safe, Saint Paul Island - Dying Light 2

Another one on Saint Paul Island, this one has a code that can be found inside another safe via lockpicking. A strange turn of events, but you can skip it all with this code.

  • Dark Hollow safe code: 9-8-7
