Only two undefeated teams remain through 5 weeks of the NFL system, and while the Patriots are currently the runaway Super Bowl LIV favorite, the San Francisco 49ers embarrassed the Browns on Monday Night Football to improve to 4-0.
To determine which teams have the best chance of making the playoffs in 2019, we crunched the numbers from the most recent playoff models from three major outlets – ESPN FPI, Football Outsiders, and Five Thirty Eight. Each team is ranked in order of their average projected chance to qualify for the playoffs. We’ve also included each team’s Super Bowl chances, according to the models.
BIG WINNERS FROM WEEK 5:
Bills: The Bills were a betting underdog on the road in Tennessee, but the defense held the Titans to 10 points in another impressive win. None of the models are giving the Bills much of a chance to win the Super Bowl, but this team is a close loss against the Patriots away from being 5-0.
Packers: Aaron Jones scored four touchdowns to lead the Packers over the Cowboys, and Green Bay has complete control of the NFC North.
BIG LOSER FROM WEEK 5:
Titans: All four AFC South teams entered the week at 2-2, but the Titans loss at home to Buffalo caused their playoff chances to plummet 25% – the biggest drop of the week by any team.
Chargers: Los Angeles lost to a winless Broncos team at home, and the Chargers’ season could be riding on their Week 6 matchup with the Steelers.
