We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, probably a lot in 2020: Tom Brady wearing the colors of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is the weirdest thing ever (especially for New England Patriots die-hards, sorry).
We’ve seen some artist’s renditions and creations of what it will look like when he puts on the uni that includes the Jolly Roger flag helmet, and wow, it’s bizarre. But he’s hardly the first megastar to change teams late in his career.
Let’s take a look at some of the big names who pulled the same move as Brady or who got traded elsewhere.
1. Michael Jordan with the Wizards: The weirdest!
2. Joe Montana with the Chiefs: At least the colors were sort of close to the Niners' unis.
3. Karl Malone and Gary Payton with the Lakers: Sometimes you forget that they tried the superteam thing and failed.
4. Hakeem Olajuwon with the Raptors: So strange to see him out of Rockets colors.
5. Madison Bumgarner with the Diamondbacks: We got a glimpse of him not in a Giants uni this spring training.
6. Shaquille O'Neal with the Celtics: It's Magic Shaq, Lakers Shaq or even Heat Shaq. That's it.
7. Shaquille O'Neal with the Cavaliers: See above.
8. Shaquille O'Neal with the Suns: You get the idea.
9. Emmitt Smith with the Cardinals: Can't believe he wasn't a Cowboy for life.
10. Brett Favre with the Jets: I don't know why, but this is weirder than when he was with the Vikings.
11. Martin Brodeur with the Blues: This was so jarring when he joined St. Louis after spending his entire career with the Devils.
12. Jerry Rice with the Raiders: Also the Seahawks! He's a Niners legend!
13. Andre Johnson with the Colts: I COMPLETELY forgot this happened with the Texans great.
14. Patrick Ewing with the Sonics: And the Magic, too.
15. Dwyane Wade with the Cavaliers: At least he eventually went back to the Heat!
16. Ken Griffey Jr. with the White Sox: Also forgot that this happened!
