The NBA will hold the 2019 Draft Lottery on Tuesday night, and the lucky winner will receive the opportunity to take Duke phenom Zion Williamson with the No. 1 overall pick this June.
In an attempt to combat tanking, the NBA Draft Lottery will operate under a new structure in 2019, with the three worst teams by record receiving an equal 14% chance of earning the top pick. Last year, for example, the Knicks would have had a 1-in-4 shot at landing Williamson. This year, their odds have slipped to 7-in-50.
Only the first four picks of the 2019 NBA Draft will be determined by a lottery. The fifth pick will go to the remaining team with the worst record – meaning the Knicks can pick no lower than No. 5. Picks five through 14 will be determined by record.
