The cult-classic JRPG Chrono Cross is getting new life on the Nintendo Switch with the Radical Dreamers Edition.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition comes out for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Steam on April 7, 2022.
Rumors of a Chrono Cross remake have been out in the wild for ages, but Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct confirmed its existence — albeit as a remaster, not a remake. As with the Final Fantasy 6 pixel remaster, Square Enix is taking the utmost care to preserve what made Chrono Cross great while modernizing the formula.
Some enhancements include a remastered soundtrack and the ability to turn off random battles. Try not to split hairs over whether this is a remaster or remake, by the way — just be happy that you no longer need to bust out emulators or a PlayStation Vita to play Chrono Cross now.

The “Radical Dreamers” part of this version of Chrono Cross is actually a text adventure game that originally came out on the Satellaview, a Super Famicom (SNES) addon that only ever came out in Japan. So in truth, you’re getting a whole extra game with Chrono Cross: Radical Dreamers Edition.
