The Memphis Grizzlies have given permission to Dwight Howard’s camp to start talking to other NBA teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, who are looking for a Plan B after DeMarcus Cousins injured his knee and is feared to miss the entire season.
Howard is on his seventh NBA team, and every year it seems another team (including the Lakers at one point!) have tried to see if they can unlock the former Defensive Player of the Year to get to his former greatness.
This is not happening. It hasn’t happened. It’s been a decade since Howard took the Magic to the NBA Finals. Ten years. We can keep pretending this is going to suddenly occur but let’s just be real about it. Plus his jokes stink.
So here, an incomplete and semi-serious list of people that the Lakers should sign ahead of Dwight Howard. I’m kidding on some of them, but I am not kidding on Peja Stojakovich. They should absolutely sign Peja Stojakovich.
- Joakim Noah
- Andrew Bogut
- Kenneth Faried
- Amir Johnson
- Kosta Koufos
- Peja Stojakovich
- Greg Monroe
- Donatas Motiejunas
- Chris Bosh
- Channing Frye
- Tiago Splitter is Probably Around, Right? Get That Guy.
- Timofey Mozgov
- Nene
- Zaza Pachulia
- Jason Smith
- Epke Udoh
- Tyler Zeller
- One of the Other Zellers, I’m Sure They’ve Got Another One Lying Around Somewhere
Sign a Zeller, Lakers. Be smart.
