The New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox are going to do something fun next Thursday – they’re going to Iowa to play in a “Field of Dreams” game on the farm where that classic baseball movie was shot.
That’s a fun idea by MLB, which is a league that usually stinks at doing cool things.Β There’s going to be a corn maze behind the outfield wall and everything.Β I have to applaud them for thinking outside the box and doing something interesting.
Today, MLB unveiled the throwback uniforms the teams will be wearing for the game and they both looked pretty darn cool, too. Especially Chicago’s.

I think they look awesome. Good for MLB.
The Nike logos on the jerseys, though, led to some strong feelings on both sides:
Some didn't like the logo at all
These are perfect except for the stupid Nike logo https://t.co/AJuV4bdWG1

Nothing says β field of dreams baseball game β like the Nike logo slapped on the front of a baseball jersey lmao https://t.co/VZHIX0HHbA

I love the authenticity with the Nike logo.

Thank God the Nike logo is still there, to make sure we really increase that feel from a century ago https://t.co/khUWphEpZM

The Nike logo messes it up but other than that I like the 1910s/1920s throwback https://t.co/oNBFXhGNJA

Others provided some pretty good arguments for the logo:
MLB fans saying the "authenticity" of the Field of Dreams game is ruined by a Nike logo on the jersey, despite the fact that the entire movie is fictional. There's no authenticity needed. Dudes aren't gonna disappear into the corn after the game. Ray Liotta isn't playing OF.

I like to think if it was possible during the 1910s-1920s if companies could put their logo on a jersey, they would.
I mean this picture is in 1886 and look at the outfield wall. The complaining about the Nike logo is just laughable. pic.twitter.com/F2P1U0Wcv1— Rogelio Castillo (@rogcastbaseball) August 5, 2021
While baseball traditionalists have a stroke, the Nike logo is timeless. Adding that to any uniform makes it 10x better https://t.co/Tf94T098sy
