9 USFL Day 1 draft picks who used to play in the NFL, including Paxton Lynch

The USFL is back! And after we got a look at the eight teams’ uniforms and helmets, the franchises in the rebooted United States Football League, those squads are getting a roster.

Day 1 of the USFL draft is done, and there were a few recognizable names on the list for NFL fans — as you saw in the headline, Paxton Lynch (the former first-round QB taken out of Memphis by the Denver Broncos in 2016) is on a roster. He’s now a member of the Michigan Panthers, who made him the last pick of Round 12, which was all quarterbacks.

QB Kyle Lauletta, Pittsburgh Maulers

The former New York Giants fourth-rounder in 2018 is now a QB for the Maulers after being taken seventh overall.

OT Isaiah Battle, Pittsburgh Maulers

He was a supplemental pick by the then-St. Louis Rams in 2015 after his college career at Clemson. He joined the Chiefs, Seahawks and Panthers before becoming a first-round pick in the XFL in 2019.

QB Jordan Ta'amu, Tampa Bay Bandits

The Ole Miss alum was an XFL star who joined a few NFL teams after his BattleHawks tenure. He was taken with the No. 2 overall pick by Tampa.

CB Howard Wilson, Houston Gamblers

The former Houston cornerback and fourth-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2017 is now a Gambler.

QB Alex McGough, Birmingham Stallions

The ex-FIU QB was a seventh-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2018.

He’s had stints with various NFL teams after going undrafted out of Arkansas State in 2017
