It’s truly remarkable what the UConn Huskies were able to accomplish these past two seasons. They became the first men’s team to repeat as national champions since Florida did in 2006 and 2007.
But Monday’s 75-60 win over Zach Edey and Purdue capped off an especially dominant run that had fans ranking Dan Hurley’s squad among college basketball’s best-ever teams.
UConn — for the second straight tournament — won a title by winning every game by double digits. And they never really faced a challenge all tournament. But this was more than a three-week run of dominance. The Huskies had done it all season. Just look at what happened in UConn’s three losses.
This team was no fluke. And fans were convinced that UConn deserved a spot in college basketball’s GOAT conversation.
