OG Verified Twitter users finally lost their blue check marks and, of course, everyone joked about it

The legacy verification purge Elon Musk promised Twitter would happen is finally upon us.

On April 20, blue check marks started disappearing behind OG verified account names. The legacy verified accounts that you followed before were now no different than a regular Twitter account.

It didn’t matter if you were a pro athlete or a famous person or even the Pope, if you weren’t paying for Twitter Blue — which doesn’t seem to be that great, by the way — then you don’t get a blue checkmark.

It’s the end of an era, y’all. A literal Twitter moment. There were so many jokes that rolled in because, well, of course there were. It’s Twitter. That’s what it’s for.
