Welcome to FTW Explains, a guide to catching up on and better understanding stuff going on in the world. You may have seen some Simpsons memes being thrown around about the Super Bowl and betting and you may be wondering what’s up. We’re here to help.
We are all hopefully familiar with the phenomenon involving The Simpsons predicting future events, from Game of Thrones to curling results and more.
This is a case where the legendary animated series actually didn’t make a correct prediction … but some photoshopping made it seem that way and suddenly, people are betting on it. Let’s dive in.
What's the about?
Earlier this week, Twitter account @NFL_Memes tweeted out this image and told the world to “bet the house on the Bengals.”

Is that from an episode of the series?
Well, sort of. Back in Season 3, episode 14 (which aired in 1992! Man, I’m old), Lisa the Greek featured Homer betting on NFL football and Lisa picking the winning teams.
But the game that’s depicted in that screenshot is between the Cincinnati Bengals … and the Miami Dolphins.
The shot of Homer with “Go Bengals” on his stomach? That’s from Season 16.
People figured out that it wasn't a Rams-Bengals prediction, right?
Well … I guess it didn’t matter? Because, per The Action Network, A whole bunch of people have bet Bengals 34, Rams 31 being the exact score at a lot of sportsbooks.
Well I just found what I’m betting Super Bowl Sunday 👀
34-31 Bengals ✅
THE SIMPSONS SAID SO! Lol 😂
I swear if it comes out that score…👁#Bengals #SuperBowl #GamblingTwitter #bettingtwitter #Simpsons #Rams pic.twitter.com/kh1Tfr1FqA

... really?
Yep. And that means if we actually get a Bengals 34, Rams 31 game on Sunday? It could mean those sportsbooks would fork over A LOT of money.
