Aaron Rodgers probably should have been suspended by the NFL after saying he was “immunized” when he wasn’t actually vaccinated.
But should that factor into whether he’s the league’s MVP for a second straight year given what he’s doing on the field?
According to one voter, yes.
Hub Arkush discussed his take on the matter with 670 The Score in Chicago and ripped Rodgers, explaining why his vote would go elsewhere.
“I don’t think you can be the biggest jerk in the league and punish your team and your organization and your fan base the way he did and be the Most Valuable Player,” Arkush told the station. “Has he been the most valuable on the field? Yeah, you could make that argument, but I don’t think he is clearly that much more valuable than Jonathan Taylor or Cooper Kupp or maybe even Tom Brady. And so, from where I sit, the rest of it is why he’s not gonna be my choice.”
That set the NFL world on fire:

Here are Hub Arkush’s full comments about why he will not be voting for Aaron Rodgers…
Hub has weighed Aaron’s on-field play, versus his off the field decision making/public comments, and has decided that he’s hurt the Packers enough that he doesn’t deserve the MVP. pic.twitter.com/TcFLvir9nr

Hub Arkush has an NFL MVP vote & it won’t be going to Aaron Rodgers.
Admits he’s the best player on the field & that the Packers are the Super Bowl favorites, but mentions he hurt his team in the offseason.
Says Rodgers is a bad guy.

Here's the response from around the league
And we let guys like @Hub_Arkush vote for awards and all-pros. Real flaw system. Trash stystem of picking who votes. https://t.co/CJsNEYxK57

I have come to dislike Aaron Rodgers this season because he spews misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccines. I also think he is a great quarterback. And I also think Hub Arkush should be stripped of his MVP vote for this. https://t.co/pheUvQEgnn

Hub Arkush should be stripped of his MVP vote. Simple as that. https://t.co/eq0gwbCmdL

Private biases or judgments regarding individual players should not influence awards voting. Is Aaron Rodgers a liar (as to his vaccination status) and at times a jerk? Yes. Is he the MVP this year? Yes.

This quote is complete and utter crap. Anyone who thinks like this and / or says it out loud should lose their vote. https://t.co/c7lM2KND5q

I thought the award was for the best player in the NFL not who’s on your diner guest list. This is so bad. But one of the flaws with the Hall of Fame voting as well. https://t.co/sTtEECULVi

This is dumb. He lied, the cancellation boogey man isn’t real, but this is dumb. Also, if you think he’s the biggest jerk in the league, you don’t know players. He’s the MVP. This is about football. https://t.co/ZGCUSPLUIm

Just a reminder that we need a lot of new, younger voters for NFL and CFB awards. https://t.co/zeJXcMCDxT
