NFL picks against the spread, Week 7: Can 49ers defend homefield against Chiefs?

How many weeks does it take to get a feel for an NFL season? The answer appears to be five weeks based on how our 2022 picks against the spread are going.

Bet For The Win had our first collective week over .500 in Week 6, which might be a sign of finally getting our sea legs…we think.

Caroline Darney became our first to pick double-digit winners in a single week, going 10-4 (41-50-3 overall). Prince J. Grimes went 9-5 (40-51-3), and Charles Curtis went 8-6 (36-55-3). Let’s hear from the crew ahead of Week 7.

Prince: We back!

Charles: One week above .500, LET’S KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING!

Caroline: LET’S GO. I asked if I could retire on top, and they said no.

1
Saints at Cardinals (-1.5)

Prince: Saints

Arizona will be better with DeAndre Hopkins, but it may take more than a game for it to click.

Charles: Saints

Short week for the Cards, New Orleans is feisty … but I don’t actually want to bet on this game.

Caroline: Saints

Off to a great start of feeling absolutely terrible about this pick!

2
Packers at Commanders (+5.5)

Prince: Commanders

Hei-ne-KE! He’s not good, but neither are the Packers right now. Commanders cover in a loss.

Charles: Commanders

I’m with Prince here. This is too large of a spread for the Commanders not to cover against a struggling Packers team.

Caroline: Commanders

This is challenging my “I don’t like to pick the Packers or Commanders” beliefs, but agree with the guys that the spread feels too big.

3
Giants at Jaguars (-3)

Prince: Giants

The disrespect. Giants should be a slight favorite.

Charles: Giants

No, no, Prince, let them keep telling us the Giants are underdogs.

Caroline: Giants

Uhhh, what is this line?

4
Falcons at Bengals (-6)

Prince: Falcons

Atlanta will stay undefeated ATS. You heard it here first.

Charles: Falcons

They just keep hanging around in games, and the Bengals haven’t looked totally impressive week to week.

Caroline: Falcons

The Falcons have kept things close, and I don’t think that changes this week. Not 100% believing that Atlanta gets the win, but take the points.

5
Colts at Titans (-2)

Prince: Colts

The Colts are due for a letdown, but I’ll default to the team I thought was better coming into the season.

Charles: Titans

I worry about Tennessee’s defense in this one, but I’ll say they win by a field goal at home.

Caroline: Titans

The Colts are not good. Neither are the Titans really, but hey someone has to win.

6
Lions at Cowboys (-7)

Prince: Cowboys

Dallas’ defense is stifling, and now the team is getting its quarterback back.

Charles: Cowboys

DAK BACK!

Caroline: Cowboys

There was never really a QB debate in Dallas, was there? I thought briefly about going with the Lions as they had kept games close…until last week.

7
Buccaneers at Panthers (+11)

Prince: Buccaneers

No matter how large the spread against Carolina, I’m taking the other team.

Charles: Buccaneers

Too easy (even with Tom Brady not looking GOATish lately).

Caroline: Buccaneers

I will not be watching this game.

8
Browns at Ravens (-6.5)

Prince: Ravens

Lamar Jackson will bounce back after the disappointing loss in NY.

Charles: Ravens

The Ravens’ pass defense is leaky, but the Browns are bad right now.

Caroline: Ravens

This one gave me pause, but I think Lamar Jackson and the Ravens win by a touchdown.

9
Texans at Raiders (-7)

Prince: Texans

I haven’t seen enough from the Raiders to believe they win by more than a TD.

Charles: Texans

Too feisty not to cover!

Caroline: Texans

I don’t like agreeing with every pick, but a touchdown feels way too big a spread here.

10
Jets at Broncos (-2)

Prince: Jets

This is less about my belief in the Jets and more about how bad the Broncos look.

Charles: Jets

Can’t bet against the Jets right now … and can’t bet on the Broncos at all.

Caroline: Jets

Raise your hand if you had Zach Wilson having a much better season than Russell Wilson. Put your hands down, liars.

11
Seahawks at Chargers (-6.5)

Prince: Chargers

Especially if Keenan Allen is back, the Chargers offense could have a big breakthrough.

Charles: Seahawks

I hesitated with this one, which screams the points to me.

Caroline: Seahawks

Every time I think the Chargers are trustworthy, they play in a monstrosity like Monday night.

12
Chiefs at 49ers (+3)

Prince: Chiefs

Jimmy Garoppolo will have to make some plays in this one.

Charles: Chiefs

The Niners’ defense is legit but not legit enough.

Caroline: Chiefs

Bills are the best team. I won’t hold it against KC for long for that loss.

13
Steelers at Dolphins (-7)

Prince: Steelers

Confidence is high in Pittsburgh after a win over the Bucs.

Charles: Dolphins

Tua’s back, and I think Miami wins by 10.

Caroline: Steelers

Hahahah who knows. The Steelers this season are designed to torment me personally, which means they’ll keep it close.

14
Bears at Patriots (-8)

Prince: Bears

Chicago can run, which should help limit possessions and keep the game close.

Charles: Patriots

Belichick at home, the defense is coming together … I can’t bet on the Bears.

Caroline: Bears

I don’t like this, but eight points feels too big.
