We’re only a few weeks away from actual, real-live, regular-season NFL action on our televisions.
Which means we’ll be hearing the “Duh-duh-duh duh-duh-duhhhhh!” fanfare from FOX’s broadcast. We’ll be getting the loud drums of CBS’s theme song, the brass welcoming us to Sunday Night Football on NBC. And of course, the classic Monday Night Football sounds we’ve heard for decades.
We’re also going to hear a new theme song all together: Amazon has Thursday Night Football, and the new tune has dropped. Many For The Win staffers compared it to Marvel movie music, but while they might be right, it’s still really good.
So where does it rank among all the theme songs? Let’s go:

Monday Night Football
Don’t accuse me of not appreciating the new take on the old-school MNF theme. I grew up with this in my ears every Monday night, and while it’s iconic, it’s a little too happy and less dramatic than the others. And no, we don’t need to go back to All My Rowdy Friends.
Among a sea of good theme songs, sadly, this one is last.

More drama is good. Shredding guitars over brass works really well for pumping me up for a game.

Thursday Night Football
Cinematic, yes. But what’s wrong with that? Is it a little close to its Sunday night cousin? Sure. Whatever. This is a really good theme, one that’s learned from all the others and evolved.

Sunday Night Football
Hear those timpani THRUM. Listen to those horns blast. It’s also super whistle-able, a great quality.

It’s almost obnoxiously in your face: FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL. HERE IT IS. EAT IT.
But tell me you won’t get goosebumps when you hear this next month for the first time in a while. Go ahead.
