Week 2 of survivor pool is here, and while Week 1 might have been a breeze for most folks, this week won’t be nearly as easy to predict.
I expect to see a lot of people eliminated here, and that’s because the games with the largest spreads all have upset potential. And every other game could go either way. But, hey, that’s the name of the game we play.
Our top pick of Week 1 — Baltimore Ravens over Houston Texans — kept us alive, so let’s see if we can’t pick another winner. First, though, here’s a look at where things stand:
Record: 1-0
Already used: Ravens

Denver Broncos (vs. Washington Commanders)

Though the Broncos lost their opener and the Commanders won theirs, Denver looked like the better team. Now, Washington has to travel to Mile High, and I don’t love its chances of leaving with a win.

San Francisco 49ers (at Los Angeles Rams)

Los Angeles showed it’s probably more formidable this season than people gave credit for in the preseason, but Kyle Shanahan has owned this division rivalry since joining the Niners and I don’t expect that to change.
3
New York Giants (at Arizona Cardinals)

You never feel good about picking the team that just got its teeth kicked in on national TV, but when that team is playing the Arizona Cardinals, well, that’s an exception you can make.
2
Dallas Cowboys (vs. New York Jets)

This could very well be the top pick for the week, but I’ll save Dallas for a matchup with a little less volatility. Not only are the Cowboys coming off a Week 1 performance we have to completely wipe from memory because of how poorly their opponent responded, but the Jets are unpredictable with a new quarterback — even if that new quarterback is the exact reason they don’t likely stand a chance.
1
Buffalo Bills (vs. Las Vegas Raiders)

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports
The Raiders were maybe a little better than people expected in Week 1, but there’s nothing like a cross-country trip to Buffalo for a game in the afternoon to set things straight. Especially against a Bills team champing at the bit to recover from that overtime loss to the Jets in Week 1.
