Alvin Kamara is one of the most dynamic running backs in the league. When he gets the ball in his hands, you never know how the play might go.
There’s a non-zero chance he might even be chucking it down the field this weekend.
Both Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian are now, unfortunately, on the NFL’s COVID list which means backup to the backup quarterback, Ian Book, will get the start on Sunday.
But…who is Book’s backup? Well, folks. It’s none other than Alvin Kamara. Yes, that’s right. Alvin Kamara is the Saints backup quarterback…again.
Here’s what the depth chart looks like right now, per Aime Just of NOLA News.
Saints QB depth chart:
1. Jameis Winston — IR w/ torn ACL
2. Taysom Hill — headed to COVID list
3. Trevor Siemian — headed to COVID list
4. Ian Book
5. Alvin Kamara— Amie Just (@Amie_Just) December 23, 2021
Note that this is happening once again. This isn’t the first time Kamara has been put in this precarious situation.
He was the backup earlier this season after Jameis Winston tore his ACL. Both Hill and Book were inactive. The only QB active on the roster was Siemian. Kamara was his backup.
It’s unbelievable that this has happened to the Saints and Kamara two times this season, but here we are.
Fans were just perplexed.

Saints fans were pretty positive about it, though, considering the circumstances.
In Alvin we trust🙏 https://t.co/5JwLOkESIx

Hopefully, he won’t actually have to play and Book will remain healthy. But with the Saints luck this season? Who knows.
