Welcome to FTW Explains, a guide to catching up on and better understanding stuff going on in the world. Are you tired of scrolling through Netflix, trying to find the perfect movie or series to watch? There’s a hack for that. We’re here to help.
We’ve all been there. You have the type of show or movie you want to watch — romantic comedy! Period drama! Adult animation! — but you need to scroll endlessly through Netflix to find what you’re looking for.
Turns out there’s a way to do that without all the scrolling. Let us help you out with a breakdown of this whole thing.
What's this now about codes?
OK, so Netflix has a way of categorizing its content that we haven’t heard much about.
But some very smart people on the internet have figured out numerical codes that correspond to VERY specific genres you can check out to pinpoint the content you want to see.

Get out of here! Really?
Yes, really! The good folks at Netflix-codes.com explained how it works:
Once you’ve found the code for the category that you’re searching, you just have to put the code in the search bar or you can replace the xx in this link https://netflix.com/browse/genre/xx with the code.
You can also click on their loooong list of codes listed on their site to do the same thing.
Prove it works.
OK! Slapstick comedies? That’s code 10256.
The link to slapstick comedies is here. That will take you to your Netflix account and list all the slapstick comedies they offer.
Classic Film Noir? Code 7687. Linked here.
TV dramas? It’s 11714, here’s the link.
They can't have EVERY genre. What about, like, steamy thrillers?
972. Features movies like In the Cut and Frank & Lola.
If you need to find something to watch on Netflix here is A list of Netflix secret codes for ALL of the movies they have in their inventory that don’t appear in the genres in your account. Type the numbers into the search bar and your good to go. pic.twitter.com/mKeQEnjCMM
