Kyrie Irving, regardless of his vaccination status, is one of the best players in today’s NBA. There’s no question about that.
He hit one of the biggest shots we’ll ever seen in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals to win the Cavaliers their first championship. Not to mention he was absolutely spectacular through that entire series.
He’s a seven-time All-Star and might have the best handle we’ve ever seen. You can’t talk about this era of basketball without talking about Kyrie Irving.
But…does he have a space on the NBA’s Top-75 list? Both Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala seem to think so.
Iguodala tweeted that he thought Irving was top 20 (!!!!).
So yβall saying @KyrieIrving ainβt top 75? I agreeβ¦ he top 20 at leastβ¦
— andre (@andre) October 21, 2021
Now, I will say, it’s unclear whether he was talking about today or of all-time, but the mention of the top 75 makes it seem like he means top 20 ever. Which, well, that’s quite the take.
Dragonfly Jonez quoted the tweet and said basketball players love Kyrie Irving more than most and Kevin Durant called him a casual.
Cuz u a casual
— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) October 21, 2021
Sheesh. That’s how KD reacted to a compliment about Irving. Dude is clearly passionate about where his teammate stands.
Then, boom. Just like that, we’ve got another debate about Kyrie Irving. At least this one was basketball-related, though.
i was wondering when someone would mention this. it isnβt an absurd thought, the top 75 part. https://t.co/MoCtPoSqLp

I completely agree, Iggy. To not include Kyrie in the top-75 is blasphemous https://t.co/GVOLlZcVk4
— Stephen A Smith (@stephenasmith) October 21, 2021
Is it? Heβs incredible. Would I have him in? Probably. Havenβt really written out a list.
Nearly 5000 players have played in the NBA. To say heβs not amongst the top 75 ever isnβt blasphemous. Itβs simply subjective. https://t.co/ZUVheCicyS
— Jorge Sedano (@Sedano) October 21, 2021
Andre Iguodala has played multiple NBA Finals against Kyrie Irving & has guarded the best players in the league for the past 15 years. He would know.
Irving may lack the accolades of others on the list, but heβs definitely a top 75 player of all-time. Denying it is just hating. https://t.co/IiRdLt6aKr
— Billy Reinhardt (@BillyReinhardt) October 21, 2021
Top 20 currently? You can make that argument.
If weβre talking top 20/75 all-time, Kyrie has no place on that list. That shouldnβt be controversial https://t.co/ypqhhlEnsX

1 ROY
1 All NBA 2nd Team
2 All NBA 3rd Team
1 Championship
…..in 10 seasonsNot difficult to see how you could find 75 people better over the entire history of the NBA https://t.co/AK5bAkdXC5

Top 20 all time? You canβt be serious dog https://t.co/oQ5bE9570K

kyrie inspire that βhe busted my ass so he gotta be a goatβ feeling lol https://t.co/ZZXdhiVtrY
— βvolcel wizards fanβ (@wildebeast913) October 21, 2021
Kyrie has top 20 all-time talent but he's not even a top 20 player of the last 25 years let alone all-time. https://t.co/tu236sLo8c
— RDM (@RDM702) October 21, 2021
Heβs top 75 sure. But top 20???? https://t.co/Ali7592nR5
— JR Righter (@JRho_11) October 21, 2021
Are there 75 NBA players all time better at basketball than Kyrie? No. Are there 75 people with greater careers, more career impact to the NBA, than Kyrie? Thatβs the question and criteria for the list i believe. https://t.co/bhURRqZ6L2

itβs an all time list not present day list https://t.co/xPzR0QcIV2

U usually do this when someone brings up the block π. 2016 warriors players love them some kyrie πππ https://t.co/hXeVo6YBJk

This is the perfect tweet, though.
There have been 29 MVPs in NBA history, and Kyrie has yet to receive a single down ballot MVP vote.
He's high up the list for most important and influential NBA players, but that's a different conversation. https://t.co/TIZ2GCMNpy

Kyrie Irving is absolutely one of the most influential and fun players we’ve ever seen play the game. Is he top 75? I’m not sure. He’s definitely not top 20.
But regardless, he’s been a joy to watch when he’s actually played.
