College basketball fans were not thrilled with the national championship’s 9:20 p.m. ET tip-off time

Timing, as they say, is everything and the NCAA clearly hasn’t gotten the memo yet.

Once again, the men’s NCAA championship on Monday is set for a 9:20 p.m. ET tip off, with all eyes across the nation on Purdue and UConn to see who is determined the winner. However, not all eyes will surely be open, as a 9:20 p.m. ET start will doubtless have more than a few dads passed out on couches by the time the game begins.

By now, the late tip off is a tradition for the final game of the NCAA tournament. It’s clearly backed up by some form of analytics by the NCAA if it keeps rolling out this start time every year. And if you’re on the West Coast, the game won’t start in the middle of your work day like other sporting events do.

Yet, for a game starting on the West Coast with two Eastern timezone teams, a 9:20 p.m. ET start ON A MONDAY is awfully late!

Please NCAA, do the right thing next year and make it an 8:30 p.m. ET start. For all of us.
