Garrett Wilson might have elaborately trolled Sean Payton with his preseason outfit choices

Sean Payton made somewhat minor news earlier this week when he revealed what he didn’t want to see from his Denver Broncos this preseason.

Among the more notable tidbits was that Payton didn’t want to see anyone wearing “Gilligan” hats and sunglasses. Also, he didn’t want them doing any interviews while a game was actually taking place.

As a feud between Payton and the New York Jets continues to boil, New York receiver Garrett Wilson appeared to listen to Payton’s pleas. As in, he heard what Payton said and seemed to deliberately do what the Denver coach didn’t want to see during the Jets’ preseason game.

Twitter user Raj (@RajPC1)  pointed out the seemingly way-too-convenient coincidence:

There’s no real way to confirm this was Wilson’s intent — he’s not a Broncos player, and there’s no guarantee Payton would even be paying attention to Jets preseason action. But, for what it’s worth, Wilson did “like” references to the apparent troll job on his Twitter profile. That doesn’t mean it’s what he planned. Wilson could’ve simply enjoyed that people made the connection.

If this was what Wilson indeed intended, what brilliant subtlety.
