When the NCAA decided to move the Final Four to a centered-court configuration at football stadiums back in 2009, it meant that record numbers of fans would get a chance to experience college basketball’s biggest games in person.
It also meant that very few of them would get to actually see what was happening.
The fact that the NCAA plays the men’s Final Four in a football stadium has been a long-lasting complaint of fans and players. The depth perception is terrible for the players, and it makes little sense to completely change the playing environment for the sport’s biggest stage. Yet, the NCAA has never been known to give up a chance to sell more tickets.
