Far Cry 6 is the newest entry in the long-standing open-world Ubisoft franchise. Through the years, the series has explored exotic locations and dreadful dictatorships, but it didn’t lose its passion for frantic action and cerebral villains.
The latest Far Cry is introducing a more complex RPG component, due to Ubisoft’s recent shift in focus, as the publisher moved away from linear action adventures and invested more in longer role-playing titles.
So, how long does it take to beat Far Cry 6? Having played it for a while before launch, we can provide you with a solid answer, looking into both the story mode and the many side activities.
How long does it take to beat Far Cry 6?
Far Cry 6 is much longer compared to previous chapters. Yara, the game’s location, is not only bigger in size but also more dense.
In order to complete the game, in fact, you’ll need around 35-40 hours. Unless you’re a speedrunner, you won’t be able to bring Antòn Castillo’s (played by Giancarlo Esposito) regime down.
This playtime takes into account not only the main campaign but also a good number of side activities, such as car races and checkpoints. You will need those if you want to keep your character on par with each region’s level requirement. Plus, you’ll want to take down a bunch of compounds and side activities to open up new fast travel points, which will save you time in the long run.
Far Cry 6 also gates some of the late-game areas with stronger enemies, and you’ll want to complete as much side content as possible before you try to tackle these. Nobody likes getting insta-killed by a grunt.
It’s quite a beefy game – especially compared to previous games in the series. It only takes 18 hours to beat Far Cry 5’s story, going as high as 29,5 hours for story plus extra content, and 44 hours for completionists runs. A holiday in Yara ain’t no weekend break.
