Elden Ring – how to use Ashes? I see you typing this in Google and I’m reaching out through your computer or mobile device to give you the answer. You’re welcome. Let’s get down to business.
Firstly, what exactly are Ashes of War? These are new to FromSoftware games. They essentially imbue a weapon with some kind of special technique, which you can use with the left trigger at the cost of some FP. But that’s not all they do.
On top of granting you a new ability, Ashes of War can change your weapon’s scaling stats. Each weapon has a statistic that allows it to scale in strength alongside your character’s own stats. For example, if a weapon has an A next to Dexterity, that means it scales very well with the Dex stat. If it says D, it still scales, but not as much. It goes from D up to A. If there’s nothing, it doesn’t scale.
With Ashes of War, you can change the weapon to Keen, Strong, Quality, or some other variation, making it scale alongside the stats your character is strongest in. It’s very handy for bumping up your effectiveness with a certain armament.
Where to find Ashes of War
You can find Ashes of War dotted all over Elden Ring’s world. Look for dung beetles pushing a ball, rush in, and kill them before they can escape. Often, you’ll be rewarded with a new Ashes of War item.
How to use Ashes of War
To use Ashes of War in Elden Ring, you need to visit a blacksmith. At a certain point in the story, you’ll be invited to the Roundtable Hold, which is then accessible by selecting it and fast traveling there. It’s on the bottom left corner of your map. Just choose the dialogue box related to Ashes of War and let the blacksmith do his work.
