Jayson Tatum has been playing lights out, stringing together what’s felt like an MVP-caliber season. Still, several recent losses have fans questioning if Tatum is truly clutch and if he can be an MVP at all.
The Boston Celtics lost another heartbreaker, their second within the last three days. On Tuesday, they lost a stunner to Dean Wade and the Cleveland Cavaliers. On Thursday, they had a chance to make a statement against the defending champion Denver Nuggets. However, in both games, the Celtics came up short.
Thursday’s loss was especially painful, and it didn’t look good. The team shot just 28.9 percent from 3-point range, and the only Celtic playing anything close to MVP level was Jaylen Brown, who had 41 points and 14 rebounds. Tatum would finish the night with only 15 points. He also had five of Boston’s 12 turnovers, pouring salt in the wound and leaving fans questioning why Tatum didn’t meet the moment.
