One of the most tumultuous seasons in the recent history of the triple crown will come to an end on Saturday with the 155th running of the Belmont Stakes.
In the massive shadow cast by 12 horses dying over five weeks at Churchill Downs, forcing the historic track to close its doors for the remainder of the spring meet, the sport will try to keep its focus on the race in Elmont, New York.
While no horse will capture all three jewels this year, the Belmont features by far the strongest field of any of the triple crown races.
Forte — the Kentucky Derby-favorite who scratched one day before the race — is back in the field. So is Tapit Trice, and Bob Baffert’s Preakness Stakes-winner National Treasure.
The post position draw is slated for Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET but oddsmakers already have their early favorites. Here’s a look at the betting lines via FanDuel before we know how they’ll line up in the starting gate.
