2022 U.S. Open: Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas lead betting favorites at The Country Club in Brookline

Fresh off a thrilling final round at the Canadian Open last week, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas head to the U.S. Open in Brookline, Massachusetts as the top two betting favorites to capture the major title.

McIlroy (+1000 to win at Tipico), who held off Thomas on Sunday in Toronto for this second win of the season, is only slightly ahead of JT (+1200). The Northern Irishman finished second at The Masters in April and took eighth at the PGA Championship in May.

With an absolutely stacked—albeit controversial—field heading to the Boston suburbs this week, bettors will want to make sure whomever they take is adept at playing through notoriously thick rough, has a steady putter and won’t be afraid to take risks to win it all.

Last year it was Jon Rahm, in 2020 it was Bryson DeChambeau and 2019 saw Gary Woodland prevent Brooks Koepka from winning his third straight.

Who will it be this year?

Here’s a look at the top odds for the 122nd U.S. Open.
