The 2019 NFL playoff picture is starting to take shape through eight weeks of the regular season, and while the Patriots are the clear class of the AFC, the NFC is loaded with dangerous teams poised to make Super Bowl runs.
To determine which teams have the best chance of making the playoffs in 2019, we crunched the numbers from the most recent playoff models from three major outlets – ESPN FPI, Football Outsiders, and Five Thirty Eight. Each team is ranked in order of their average projected chance to qualify for the playoffs. We’ve also included each team’s Super Bowl chances, according to the models.
BIG WINNER FROM WEEK 8:
Eagles: Following an embarrassing loss in Dallas, the Eagles faced a must-win scenario and dominated against the Bills. The road will still be extremely tough in the loaded NFC, and the Eagles will likely have to win the NFC East to make it in.
BIG LOSERS FROM WEEK 8:
Bills: The Bills’ playoff chances are still above 50 percent, but Sunday’s blowout against the Eagles was sobering. The Bills now have four winnable games in a row before a rough stretch at the end of the year. They may need to go 3-1 at worst.
Panthers: The Panthers were always a playoff longshot, but Sunday’s loss dropped Carolina from a 1-in-3 to a 1-in-5 shot of making the postseason.
