UConn coach Dan Hurley has never been shy about his intensity. He’ll let refs hear it after bad calls. He’ll get into it with opposing fans. He’ll complain about hotel accommodations. It’s all to motivate his team.
He also won’t back down from a challenge against opposing players, apparently.
During the first half of Monday’s national title game against Purdue, Hurley was visibly frustrated about the apparent fouls going uncalled on Boilermakers big man Zach Edey.
As the game went to a TV timeout, the UConn head coach said something that got Edey’s attention.
Edey looked back at Hurley and had words for the UConn head coach. It was obviously a tactic to throw Edey — who had 16 points at that point — off his game.
But fans still didn’t love seeing a coach go at an opposing player.
