It was quite a Thursday of March Madness for one New York bettor at BetRivers, who had a roller-coaster of a day — but that didn’t stop him from firing on bets.
According to a BetRivers spokesperson, the bettor placed 65 bets of at least $10,000 on Thursday’s games, totaling $3.4 million.
Among the winners were five live wagers on 14-seed Oakland, which ended up upsetting No. 3 Kentucky 80-76. Oakland opened the game as a 13.5-point underdog and +575 on the moneyline — this bettor waited to make his bets:
- $59,500 on Oakland live ML (+165)
- $66326 on Oakland live ML (+148)
- $66,666 on Oakland live ML (-118)
- $99,888 on Oakland live ML (-128)
- $66,666 on Oakland live +10 (-122)
Those five bets won him a little over $390,000 after Oakland’s surprising win.
There were also plenty of misses, though, including a $156,000 wager on Texas Texas -7.5 and a $64,300 bet on Texas Tech ML (-157) that came up short, as No. 11 NC State won outright 80-67.
The bettor also had an $84,600 bet on the Drake Bulldogs ML, which came up short as No. 7 Washington State came back late in the game for a 66-61 victory.
