The United States Women’s National Team has lost a bit of its momentum with oddsmakers as the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup moves on to the Round of 16.
After the USWNT’s tie with Portugal early on Tuesday, the team has faced criticism for their play and more.
While oddsmakers haven’t at all given up on the United States as major contenders for the World Cup, they have taken the team down a notch or two in the standings.
Spain and England have gained ground on DraftKings and FanDuel, with those two teams tied with each other at +400 odds on DraftKings (the U.S. is at +450). They’re tied with the U.S. at +430 as favorites on FanDuel, per TruMedia Sports’ Paul Carr.

While the United States can certainly shake off some on-field struggles as the tournament progresses, it’s going to take some truly inspired play to get oddsmakers fully back in the team’s corner.
For the first time in a good while, it feels like the U.S. isn’t the favorite to win the World Cup. We’ll see how the Round of 16 goes for the team.
