After the reigning champion Denver Nuggets decisively took Game 1 of their first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers, Nikola Jokic was free to think about other things for the time being. For example, why he leaned all the way into looking like the villain/protagonist Gru from the Despicable Me animated film series.
During his postgame press conference, Jokic was asked to explain his appearance in a Despicable Me 4 teaser. For an NBA superstar who doesn’t usually like to bask in the limelight, it was a tad out of character.
But this was different. Jokic (who has a 2-year-old daughter at home) was overjoyed to share his love for Gru and the hilarious kids movies:

Look at that smile on Jokic’s face. Why, it’s almost reminiscent of Gru having his heart melted by his many minions.
