The latest NFL mock draft from NFL.com has the Raiders trading up for Michael Penix Jr.

Michael Penix Jr. continues to have buzz surrounding him, but the Washington QB seems like either a late first-rounder or a second-round pick to many mock drafters.

In the latest 2024 NFL mock draft from our Christian D’Andrea, he’s got Penix Jr. going in the second round to the New York Giants, who need a QB since Daniel Jones probably isn’t the answer long-term.

But in the latest 2024 mock from NFL.com, Gennaro Filice has an intriguing scenario: the Raiders trade up late in the draft to pick No. 30 to grab Penix Jr. to get their QB of the future.

Here’s the take on why:

I don’t know what the Raiders think about the extensive injury history, but NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported last month that the combine medical exams “came out extremely positive for Penix — no issues going forward.” One thing I do know: Penix has a serious whip of an arm. And one thing I think I know: Las Vegas won’t be able to secure his services by sitting tight at Pick No. 44.
