Jay Wright offered a definitive answer about his interest in Kentucky's reported head-coaching vacancy

John Calipari stunned much of the college basketball world on Sunday with his reported departure to Arkansas. And now, Kentucky — college hoops’ winningest program — is left looking for a replacement.

Kentucky will likely aim for the biggest names in coaching given its blue-blood status. But the Wildcats can already cross a two-time national champion off their list.

Working the pregame show ahead of Monday’s national title game between UConn and Purdue, former Villanova coach Jay Wright confirmed that he had zero interest in the Kentucky vacancy. His no was so definitive that he wouldn’t even entertain a potential approach from Kentucky.

Wright left coaching after the 2022 Final Four loss to Kansas and has preferred his time in broadcasting over navigating NIL and the transfer portal in today’s college basketball.

It doesn’t sound like Kentucky will be able to change his mind either.
