NC State big man DJ Burns Jr. knew there was nothing any one man could do to stop Purdue’s Zach Edey Saturday, so he apparently took to jokes as a tactic to slow the back-to-back Naismith Player of the Year.
It didn’t exactly work, as the 7-foot-4 Edey still finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in the 13-point win, but Burns did get the big man to break character a few times, and now we know what he said during one of those exchanges. It was exactly what you might have expected. The 6-9, 275-point Burns was simply marveling at how big Edey was.

“Bro, excuse my langue, you big as hell,” Burns said he told Edey. “Like yo, I’m going to figure you out bro. We had a little joke moment.”
That’s definitely not the first time Edey has heard that.
