The Dodgers are the new Yankees with a historically high over/under in 2024

It’s been quite the offseason for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In addition to signing the best free agent in the United States in Shohei Ohtani and trading for a potential ace in Tyler Glasnow, they also signed the best player in the international market in pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Sportsbooks have taken notice, as several opened the Dodgers with an astronomical win total of 104.5. Los Angeles went 100-62 last season and cruised to another NL West division crown.

In the Sports Odds History database — which goes back to 1990 — only one team has had a win total that high: The 1999 New York Yankees. It’s a high bar to clear, as that Yankees team only won 98 games in the regular season before going on to win another World Series title.

Can the Dodgers win 105 games? It’s certainly possible with all the talent on the roster, but prioritizing rest and October success will also be important to a team that has had its share of postseason disappointments.

It will fun to track Los Angeles’ win total pace all season.
