The 49ers and Chiefs' Super Bowl hotels are ridiculously far from the Las Vegas strip, per report

Before the matchup for Super Bowl 58 was set, the NFL made it clear that participating players making the trip to Las Vegas were prohibited from any form of gambling, including casino games and sports betting.

Now, it seems, the league is taking an extra step to help players avoid that temptation. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers are being placed in Lake Las Vegas hotels 25 miles from the Vegas strip, according to The Messenger’s Arash Markazi. Of course, the hotel location likely has as much to do with player safety as anything, keeping them away from the madness of the strip, but it certainly accomplishes more than one thing.

I’m still not sure how the NFL could send a bunch of adults to Las Vegas and expect not a single person to pull a slot lever or pick between red and black. But maybe blowing a chance to play in the Super Bowl is a strong enough deterrent. I guess we’ll find out.
