Fantasy football cheating scandal leads to employee being fired for rigging competition

A fantasy football cheating scandal in a major tournament with the National Fantasy Football Championship has led to one of its employees being fired.

ESPN reported this week that the company’s Post-Season Hold ‘Em contest was compromised when the former employee in question allegedly swapped out a player each in both the Wild Card and Divisional rounds for a contestant in the competition for competitive advantage.

The discrepancy was spotted by members in the competition from the “Ship Chasing” podcast, per ESPN.

“Recently, with help from reporting by a public source, we successfully revealed a post-deadline move in one of our NFFC Post-Season Hold ‘Em contests that was detected and quickly confirmed, resulting in SportsHub being able to take immediate action to resolve the issue without any impact to the results of the contest,” NFFC founder Greg Ambrosius said in a statement.

“As a result of its internal investigation, an employee was terminated and a contest participant has been banned from further play on our platforms.”
