It can’t be described as the reason the Cincinnati Bengals lost to the Houston Texans Sunday, but Tyler Boyd’s dropped go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter is definitely part of why they didn’t win.
It took a series of unlikely events to even give the Bengals a chance to take the lead after trailing by 10 — including just the second interception of the season thrown by CJ Stroud — but with under two minutes left in the game, Cincinnati had a chance to take the lead.
Unfortunately, Boyd couldn’t haul in a wide open touchdown on third down, leaving the Bengals to settle for a game-tying field goal instead.

Had Boyd caught the pass, the underdog Texans (+7) would have needed a touchdown to win (though the cover seemed to be secured). But with the game tied, Houston had plenty of time left to drive into position for a field goal to win outright as time expired.
