Aaron Rodgers clarified what he meant after mics caught him saying he'd be back in a few weeks

When Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles just minutes into his Jets debut, it was assumed that the 39-year-old quarterback had suffered a season-ending injury. After all, it’s an injury that often takes a full year to come back from.

But with Rodgers, he’s holding out hope for a return *this* season. It just won’t be as soon as we heard him suggest on Monday night.

After the Jets’ Week 9 loss to the Chargers, mics picked up a postgame conversation between Rodgers and Derwin James. Rodgers was asked when he was coming back, and he responded, “Give me a few weeks.”

Now, Rodgers did undergo a unique surgery that is supposed to accelerate the recovery time. But appearing on Tuesday’s edition of the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers clarified that he was just joking with James and that a few weeks wouldn’t be a realistic timeline.

If Rodgers does somehow make it back this season, it certainly won’t happen in November.
