This college football season has been rather difficult to predict.
There aren’t any truly great teams — the ones you can go ahead and write in for the College Football Playoff already — and the bad teams have still found a way to make things interesting every week.
But there was one thing every bettor could count on week in and week out: Vanderbilt was going to fail to cover the spread.
It was 0-7 ATS on the year and destined to get worse. Especially in Week 7 when No. 1 Georgia came to town.
The poor Commodores hadn’t scored a single touchdown against the Bulldogs since 2018 entering Saturday. They were 31.5-point underdogs at home. It should’ve been ugly.
Instead, Vanderbilt showed us it had greatness inside itself this whole time.
The Commodores stunned the betting world by putting up 20 points in a 37-20 loss. Now, granted, Georgia has been pretty awful against the spread this year, too. Saturday’s result dropped the Bulldogs to 2-5 ATS on the year.
Even still, for the worst team ATS in college football to finally end its streak against the No. 1 team in the country is a wild result.
Vanderbilt is winless against the spread no more.
Commodores (+32.5) FINALLY cover a game, losing 37-20 against No. 1 Georgia.
Vandy is now 1-7 ATS

Up next for Vandy is another ranked matchup against No. 13 Ole Miss. If the Commodores cover two weeks in a row we might seriously have to consider betting on them in the future.
Not now, though. Definitely not now.
