2023-24 Stanley Cup odds: Avalanche and Hurricanes enter the NHL season as co-favorites

It’s been a long four months since the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Florida Panthers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final to claim their first title in franchise history, but the NHL is finally back Tuesday with a triple-header of games.

The wait has been even longer for fans of non-playoff teams who have surely convinced themselves 2023 is their year. And while I don’t mean to spoil those expectations, oddsmakers also have some informed thoughts about whose year it is and they may or may not agree.

At BetMGM, the Colorado Avalanche and Carolina Hurricanes are tied as title favorites at +900, with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils making up the rest of the top five at +1000 each. The defending champs go into the new season with +1200 odds.

Below is a look at the rest of the Stanley Cup field going into the season openers.
