The Red River Rivalry had a major impact on this year’s Heisman race, as one candidate has skyrocketed and another has fallen down the rankings.
At FanDuel, Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel’s Heisman odds have gone from +1600 as of Monday to +1200 after the Sooners’ win over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday.
Gabriel’s last-minute heroics to lead Oklahoma to victory had some folks calling it his Heisman moment.
He’s now got the fourth-highest odds at FanDuel for the Heisman behind USC quarterback Caleb Williams (+160), Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. (+350) and Oregon quarterback Bo Nix (+750).
As for Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, his Heisman odds at FanDuel have dropped from +900 on Monday to +3000 after Texas’ loss.
That’s tied for sixth in the rankings with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye and Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke.
It was a heck of an afternoon for Gabriel and the Sooners, one that gave the Oklahoma quarterback a major moment for his Heisman consideration.
As for Ewers, he and Texas will have to bounce back in a big way to get the oddsmakers back on his side.
