Anyone who had seen Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter play at Jackson State could tell you they would make some plays for Colorado.
But absolutely nobody saw coming what they accomplished in their very first game for the Buffaloes in the season-opener Saturday against No. 17 TCU. Not even oddsmakers.
Hunter went into Saturday’s game with Heisman odds of 100-1 at DraftKings. Sanders’ odds were even longer at 150-1. But after their incredible performances led Colorado to a stunning upset, both saw their odds jump all the way to 40-1, placing them firmly in top-20 territory.
Even Colorado’s title odds jumped up from +20000 to +10000.

Odds to win title: +20000 ➡️ +10000

While we’ll want to pump the brakes on title talk, the Heisman hype is well worth the conversation. In their Power 5 debuts, Sanders passed for 510 yards and four touchdowns, and Hunter caught 11 passes for 119 yards while also playing cornerback and recording an interception — with a couple other near-picks.
Their odds are now in the range of players like Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord — who wasn’t nearly as good in his opener — and Michigan running back Blake Corum. Players on teams ranked top three in the country.
We could see those odds jump again after a meeting against Nebraska next.
