Every angle of Mikal Bridges' last-second 3-pointer off missed free throw to force OT against Canada in World Cup

Adding a little more insult to the U.S. semifinal loss Friday to Germany in the FIBA World Cup, Canada beat the U.S. in the bronze-medal game Sunday.

After a long tournament of being favored to win the whole thing, the U.S. is going home without even touching the podium. However, their exit didn’t come without a little drama, as the game against their neighbors to the north went down to the wire.

Canada led the U.S. by three points with four seconds left in the fourth quarter and Mikal Brides at the free-throw line. He had to intentionally miss the free throw to give the U.S. a chance to rebound and tie the game with a 3-pointer. That’s exactly what happened, and Bridges did it all himself.

Here’s every angle of the incredible play.

It’s a shame the U.S. squandered that heroic play in overtime, getting outscored 16-7 in the extra period for a 127-118 loss. It encapsulated the team’s incredible highs and lows of the tournament all in a few minutes.

Bridges’ shot unfortunately allowed for this play to happen too.

Yep, he extended the game just to get put on his butt by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander — who has been a mad-man all tournament — and lose the game anyway. That is rough.
