Not even Aaron Rodgers can convince bettors the Jets are a playoff team

Aaron Rodgers was supposed to be the missing piece.

After a push for the postseason that ultimately came up short a year ago, the New York Jets were thought to be just a quarterback away from competing for the playoffs, and possibly more.

So, they swung for the fences this offseason and traded for future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Oddsmakers reacted, elevating New York’s Super Bowl odds so much that they’re currently seventh-best (+1600) at BetMGM. Their odds to win the AFC are tied for fourth (+1000).

Yet, bettors still aren’t convinced. The Jets are the most-bet team to miss the playoffs at BetMGM, according to BetMGM’s John Ewing.

With -140 odds to make the playoffs and +115 to not make the playoffs, 78% of tickets have the Jets missing out on the postseason and 51% of the handle.

It doesn’t help that New York has to play in the tough AFC East. Apparently, not even Rodgers can convince bettors that the Jets won’t be the Jets.
