The U.S. women’s national team is the favorite at the 2023 World Cup, but that doesn’t mean the team is invincible. We saw it firsthand on Wednesday as the Americans notched a Group E draw in a heated battle with the Netherlands. The Americans played well, while flawed, but didn’t necessarily resemble the juggernaut some expected.
Should the USWNT actually lose at some point during this World Cup, falling short of the ultimate goal, this would be an awful development for the betting market.
Right now, 81 percent of bettors at BetMGM have the USWNT (+225) winning it all. That is not a misprint; I assure you — 81 PERCENT.

This is a younger iteration of the USWNT, and it looks like the players are still kind of getting their feet wet through two group-stage games. It’s a little early in the tournament for concern, considering they could start gelling like a well-oiled machine very soon.
But if they don’t, the biggest upset of this World Cup will hit some folks quite hard.
