Poker player wins $5.2 million at World Series event thanks to a stunning bad beat

Oh man, you’re going to want to sit down for this one if you’re watching this poker highlight.

Because if you’re putting yourself in Artur Martirosyan’s shoes, this is going to hurt.

Here’s the breakdown: It was the final two at the 2023 World Series of Poker $250,000 Super High Roller tournament. Chris Brewer had over 70,000,000 chips to Martirosyan’s 32.9K.

Martirosyan raised with Ace-King and Brewer re-raised with Ace-7 … but his opponent called immediately, and it was an all-in situation. Martirosyan had a 72 percent chance of winning.

The flop: King-9-5. Nothing much for Brewer, who now had a TWO PERCENT CHANCE OF WINNING (you see where this is going).

The turn: An 8. Brewer needed one of the three 6s left (the fourth? A spade that would have given his opponent a flush).

He got it. Tournament over. Brewer wins over $5.2 million:

Brutal.
