2023 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest odds: Joey Chestnut, Miki Sudo are the favorites, again

What’s more American than gambling on who will eat the most meat on the Fourth of July? It’s almost that time of year where we celebrate Independence Day by watching adults gorge on pork.

That’s right. The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is near. You can watch the women’s competition at 10:45 a.m. EST on ESPN3 on July 4, and the men’s at noon on ESPN.

And you can also gamble on them.

DraftKings has betting lines on winners for the men’s and women’s competition.

Of course, for the men’s competition, 15-time champion Joey Chestnut is the favorite at -4000. Aside from 2015, Chestnut has won the contest every year except for 2015. He ate 63 hot dogs last year, and may have eaten more if he hadn’t been interrupted to subdue a protestor who rushed the stage. He once ate a world record 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

In the women’s competition, Miki Sudo is the overwhelming favorite at -5000. She won her eighth women’s title in 2022, and also holds the women’s world record of 48.5 hot dogs eaten.

For the women’s competition on DraftKings, the other betting options are Michelle Lesco (+1500) or the Field (+2500). Lesco won the 2021 contest by eating 30.75 hot dogs and has finished as a runner-up to Sudo in four other years.

In the men’s contest, bettors can also put money down on these other contenders:

  • Geoffrey Esper +1200
  • Nick Wehry +2000
  • James Webb +2500
  • The Field +3000
  • Bartley Weaver IV +4000
  • Gideon Oji +5000
  • Ren Zoza +5000
  • Darrien Thomas +6000
  • Adrian Morgan +6000

Folks can also bet on if Sudo and Chestnut will break their personal records. Odds for Chestnut to top 76 hot dogs are at +255, while the odds for Sudo to take down more than 48.5 are at +200.
