By now, I think we all understand the Miami Heat aren’t your typical No. 8 seed. And after taking Game 2 of the 2023 NBA Finals over the Denver Nuggets in shocking fashion, they might not be your typical playoff team overall. I’m talking about NBA history more than anything.
With the Heat coming back from a 15-point deficit on Sunday night, they now have seven (7!) wins this postseason when trailing by at least 10 points. That’s tied with the 2022 Golden State Warriors for the most in the last quarter-century.
It goes to show you that even when you think the Heat are up against the wall, and even when they’re clearly the inferior team on paper, their games are basically impossible to predict.
This is the most bonkers part of this whole Heat run. All the underrated 8th seed stuff is insane and fun, yes. But as if that wasn’t enough, they’ve won > half of their playoff games after being down 10+. As if it’s a reminder that this team is not fazed by anything whatsoever. pic.twitter.com/uvQu4S608S

This championship series is shifting to Miami for Wednesday night, and the Nuggets are still favored relatively comfortably for a road team. Oddsmakers with BetMGM have Denver as a -140 favorite to retake home-court advantage in a few days.
Based on the Heat’s precedent of playing until the absolute final whistle, I would sooner throw my hands up in the air rather than make any concrete prediction for the rest of this series.
