Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones has set himself a very lofty goal for the 2023 season.
The two-time Super Bowl champion said on Wednesday that he will win the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year honor, one that has eluded him in his stellar career.
When a fan repsonded to him that he’d probably need to get 20 sacks to achieve this goal, Jones simply responded with “okay.”
At present, Jones has +3000 odds to take home the award.
It helps that he plays on the NFL’s best team in the Chiefs, and that he’s perhaps the second-best player on his team behind quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
However, competition is fierce around the NFL with so many good defensive players competing at a high level.

Right now, Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker Micah Parsons (+650) and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett (+700) have the best odds of anyone in the NFL to be named the league’s best defensive player.
We’ll see if Jones can back up his tweets with his career-best season and really take home this prestigious award next winter.
If he does, we can safely say he called his shot.
